Thoughts On A Rainy Day

  The other day I took a Grit Assessment and began reading “Mastery” by Robert Greene which helped me identify my passion, and my uniqueness.  I began thinking about my current employment and realized I wasn’t utilizing all my gifts and talents, that this is just a job. I don’t want another ‘job’ I want a position that I’m passionate about, that allows me to utilize my gift of creative writing.  Which is why this position appealed to me. If my whole life has been an apprenticeship leading toward mastery, what is my passion? Does my passion choose me? Being gifted is different than passion and mastery.  Passion is a hidden force, that haunting feeling, or what you are obsessed with.  What is guiding you? Have you defrauded your vocation, that voice you have silenced over the years? What is your sense of destiny? Joy of the creative process vs the ego

  (WARNING:This is deep consciousness reading- or some Zen-like ish ) At one point a shift will occur from joy to ego. The ego when inflated only falls to earth and will create a deep scar. So there is a constant battle to remain true to self vs believing the popularity that mastery brings.  Try avoiding emotional extremes by finding a way to balance optimism with doubt. Primarily, because the natural world will creep in and this can deter the original mind from its path.  I’m able to express my “deepest self” when a life jarring event occurs.  My son’s death, the breakup of a relationship, an argument or disagreement – all lead me to write about that event or write something in a fictional manner.  At some point you will find authenticity.
